Question About Thyroid?

Question:
I am a recovering Bulimic and none of my family members are aware of my problem.
Due to malnutrition, I have stopped having my mentstrual peroid all together and I know from throwing up the glands in my throat are enlarged.

My mother is convinced I have thyroid and wants me to have a blood test at a groccery store (no doctor visit)

Can they tell by a blood test that I'm bulimic?

Answers:
No a blood test to check thyroid funtion will not show that you have been bulimic.
Do you have an obvious goitre is that why your mum is concerned or do have symptoms indicating you are either under/overactive? Good luck with the recovery.
I don't know what groccery store would do any blood test. However the test she is referring to is a TSH. It only test for the level of thyroid sensing hormone.
Swollen glands can come from other illness and you would be wise to go to the doctor and get checked out.
You should talk to your mom about your Bulemia and your doctor as well. You do not want to relapse as it is dangerous to your health. No one is going to judge you, don't keep it a secrete, get help.
