My son has a bleeding disease called Von Willebrand Disease?

his Dr did not really tell me to much about it and i cant fin to much on the web about it. He is just starting to walk and i dont want to hold him back just because i dont wont him to fall and start to bleed. i also just need to know if any one alse has a kid with the disease, if so what should i do to pervent him being badly hurt and posably put in the hospatle

Yes, we are getting a child at the preschool I work at with this condition and it was the first Id heard. So we looked it up on the internet, there is some information if you look around. There are different levels of it, mild to severe. Ask you doctor which kind your son has. You should be wary of him hitting his head especially and teach him to let you know if he hurts himself. He will probably bruise very easily and if he does bleed, it can be hard to control the bleeding. Depending on the level he has, it could be not much to worry or it could be a big deal.

Make sure any sitters or teachers in the future know and just watch him carefully. He is missing something in the blood that helps it clot. Although not the same as hemopheliacs.
