Can someone tell me what this is?

Question:
My friend's mom isnt feeling too well, her backs killing her, and there's something i dont know her liver or something kidney maybe, you know, in that area by your side. She's not too sure where, and its on her side, you know when you run and u start hurting on the side? That's Where it hurts as well. She's terrified, and doesn't know what to do. She may need to go to the hospital, so if someone can tell me what this may be i can tell her and help her.

Answers:
Hello; If the pain is in the side, but sometimes difficult to place as one specific area... my bet would be Kidney stones, not Gall stones. Unlike Gallstones, Kidney stones can be "zapped" away with a type of radiation. My wife had kidney stones four times so far, and (as I continue to tell her) the common causes are overwieght (obesity), poor diet, not enough pure water; (I say pure, because that doesn't mean koolaid or anything made with water), and the drinking of carbonated softdrinks, especially "diet" softdrinks!

I hope this helps;
Marcos
From recent experience it sounds like her gall bladder. She might have gall stones. She needs to go to the doctor and if that's what it is they will probably remove it. It's really not that big a deal. Same day surgery and all that fun stuff. But for sure see a doctor!
Ask her exactly whats wrong and check her symptoms at webmd.com. There's a symptoms checker page, that's very helpful. If she's in excruciating pain though, maybe it's best to get her to a doctor asap.
you sound like you know alot of details. is this person you?
Doctors go to med school for 8 years then do an internship she really needs to bring her Mom there. we are only guessing as to whats wrong. be supportive of your friend. but don't offer opinions as to what could be wrong. let your friend talk or cry to you listen as she gets it all out that will make here feel better and will show you as the good friend you really are.
