Will there ever be a cure for cystic fibrosis?
Question:

Maybe someday. Its like Cancer, will we ever cure it? We can hope. As for now, CFers get a lung transplant and that buys them about 2-7 years, it sucks but its reality. Research is being done, but I think until our government can stop wasting money blowing up and rebuilding foreign countries, there will not be enough money to actually find cures for Cystic Fibrosis and Cancer.
Good God. I hope so, I personally haven't been affected by this awful disease, but have seen others who have had their lives ruled by it. I should hope that at some point soon, the medical buffs will turn a corner and get some sort of cure in the bag. I know it's not a quick process, but they have been at it for a good while now. Good luck to all the folk who are trying so hard to get this thing sorted!
probably. I just hope the CF foundation finds it before a drug company does. But I doubt it will be in ourlifetime. And even if they do find a cure, they still need to find a way to reverse the effects of the CF the lung damage and blah. I think most of us would be happy with something to just reverse the effects of it.
I wish and pray that there will be one day I am a respiratory therapist who has had the pleasure to get to know some of the patients who have had this disease. They have all touched my heart. One of whom did recieve a heart lung transpland and will have a longer lifespan than the normal cf patient but will never be "cured".
I will always pray for a cure, and continue to treat these patients, after all this is why I went into medicne... to help people.
The progress w/ the medical feild is getting much better the lifespan of these patients are getting much much longer.. so maybe one day soon we will see a cure.
I truly hope so as i had a friend that lost his little boy to it and was awful listening to him coughing , hopefully very soon in the distant future all these deaths will be eradicated good luck
The most consistent aspect of therapy in cystic fibrosis is limiting and treating the lung damage caused by thick mucus and infection with the goal of maintaining quality of life. Intravenous, inhaled, and oral antibiotics are used to treat chronic and acute infections. Mechanical devices and inhalational medications are used to alter and clear the thickened mucus. Other aspects of CF therapy involve treatment of diabetes with insulin, pancreatic disease with enzyme replacement, and infertility with advanced reproductive techniques. In addition, therapies such as transplantation and gene therapy aim to cure some of the effects of cystic fibrosis.
