I went to the website www.proactiv.com and found these usage instructions:

How do I use the 3-Step System?
Follow these simple steps twice a day everyday for a great complexion!
Step 1: Renewing Cleanser – Apply a small amount to dampened skin and gently massage. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Pat dry.
Step 2: Revitalizing Toner – Apply to skin with a cotton ball or pad. Allow to dry.
Step 3: Repairing Lotion – Apply a thin layer (dime-sized) to the entire affected area. Allow to dry. Do not rinse off. If going outside, use a sunscreen
u should read da instructions da give u

da first few times ur skin has to get worse because its clearing out da bad stuff in ur skin.. but if uve been useing it for a long time.. and its still getting worse den maybe is beacuse ur useing it wrong or dat ur skin is not being able to get used to da product.. try switching to somehing more calming. noxema works very well.
Read all the directions or call customer service or go on their website. I didn;t find proactive to be very good- think of going to see a dermatologist- RETINA-MICRO!
proactive is just a rip off. it doesn't really work. It just strips away the important layer of skin off of your face. It dries it out entirely too much.
You skin is probably just working on getting used to this new product, or it is super dry. I used proactive for a while and my face got red every once in a while.

If it swells up or itches or gets a rash I would go to a dermatologist.

If it bugs you too much try not using it for a day or 2 and see if your face calms down.

im sure its nothing!
much luck=]

I personally did not like proactive very much. It didnt help me at all..but its different for everyone=)
Murad works much better, they make a moisturizer that gets rid of redness
You can order the system at murad.com
I've used Proactive and it didn't work for me, but Murad got rid of almost all of my acne in about a month and a half
Well lets see..

You use the gritty face wash every morning and night.. Than you use the blue liquid and put it on a cotton ball after the face wash every morning and night.. Than you use the lotion..

You can use that mask 3 times a week after you wash with the gritty face wash.. than do the liquid and cotton ball..

Let me know if you have any more questions!
Ok..1..use the cleanser in the morning and before bed( wet face and wash with cleanser for one minute, then wash off and dry)

2...apply toner after drying face, don't wash off

3.apply lotion, also don't wash off

do this twice a day and you should have clear skin like me!
You may be using to much of it. Obviously you are supposed to use it in the morning and before you go to bed. Putting a lot of the solution and lotion on can make it almost useless. Use 10-15 drops of the face clenser. And all the other lotions and things use a dime size of. Hope this helps. :)
the first weeks, it makes your skin dry and red but if its really red then stop for a wile and just put moisturizer on your face. then use it again. i really works for me. good luck. :)
I think that Proactive can be pretty harsh. I use it and I found that my skin had to adjust to the scrubbing (step 1) the astringent (step 2) and the benz-perox (step 3). I also had the redness but, my skin is fairly tough and the redness went away with moisturizing. (Sometimes, if I get too much of the Proactive on my neck I get a dry skin rash.) I am in my second month of using it and I have to say that it's taken about this long (two months!!) for my skin to become more clear. I guess, for me, Proactive just helped me do more than just wash with a face-soap. It seems like my skin needs that extra couple of steps to be less pimply. For you, I suggest that you moisturize. Also, be wary of the sun if you are fair-skinned -- the stuff in Proactive can and will make your face-skin more sensitive to the sun. Your "worsening" may be a symptom of "overdrying" from the Proactive chemicals. A good moisturizer after you do the steps may help. Look for Clean & Clear's medicated moisturizer -- it's great at reducing pimples and it moisturizes. Good luck!
maybe you should stop using it...i like neutrogena products, they are effective for me
