Mucinex - Ok to take everyday?

Question:
Is it ok to take this otc med everyday?

Answers:
Are you taking because you have allergies ( seasonal ) or because you have alot of post nasal drip and a productive cough ( coughing up mucus )?? What is the color of the mucus that you cough up?? It would really depend on why you are taking it. If you have a bacterial infection then you need an antibiotic. If you are coughing green, yellow green mucus then that would indicate an infection. If it's clear or white then you should be ok to take the Mucinex. How long have you been taking it?? Do NOT treat yourself for more than one week without asking your Doc if it's Ok. Mucinex treats coughs caused by a cold or the flu.It loosens phlegm or mucus in the lungs. It is NOT intended to treat a chronic cough caused by smoking, asthma, emphysema, heart failure or problems in which there is a large amount of phlegm, which includes chronic bronchitis. Do you have a fever, chills or sweats ?? Mucinex should be taken with a full glass of water( this also helps loosen mucus). Do NOT take more often than directed ( read the label for dosage information). Alcohol can make any drowsiness that you might experience worse. Based on the information above, it's up to you as to what you should do. So, for now, I would say No to taking it everyday. I hope that this helps!!
Yes it's okay.in fact it's okay to take it every 12 hours, twice a day.
It works too...may be a little expensive, but it's worth it.
