What Are the long term Effects of Mixing Ammonia And Bleach?

i was trying to clean the bathroom to get the cat smell out of there when i did that i had no idea cat urine had ammonia in it i mixed bleach with it and boy did i feel like i had a severe asthma attack and had to go to er . was just wondering what are the long term effects or is their any?

To begin with if you washed your kitty everyday you wouldn't get that bad funky smell on her. And a razor also helps with better hygiene. Just some suggestions. Good luck in the future.
They should have informed you at the ER. Any bad effects would be with the lungs. You need to follow up with a Dr. No kidding. What happened to you was serious and you probably need some testing to see if there is any damage to your lungs. You will need them for many years so please take care of them thru your Dr. He knows best.
The combination of bleach and ammonia releases chlorine gas. That was likely what caused your asthma attack. Follow up with your doctor, but you should be okay in the long run.
the long term effects can be shortness of breathe and the onset of asthma. It is rare to have that happen if you don't have a history of it. The worst this is ammonia poisoning but the would need an excessive amount of inhalation. I would not worry about it unless you have shortness of breath lasting more than a month. see a doctor or the poison control center.
