I haven't heard that one in a while. My older sister has Antiphospholipid Syndrome. It's very rare.
These links describe it very well and accurately:

My sister was having terrible problems with her eyes. Pain, loss of vision. She went to the eye doctor (an ophthalmologist) who told her she had blood clots in her eyes that were causing the pressure--they put her in the hospital immediately. It took them about a week (this was in the mid-80s) to figure out what it was. At that time it was so rare that it was called an "orphan" disease because, being so rare, there was very little research being done on it and treatment was extremely limited. But they started her on anticoagulants (Coumadin) and once they got her on the correct dosage.she was SO much better. She still takes it today and is doing well.
Frequent abortions , DIC (excessive bleeding secondary to many clots inside the blood vessels) , pulmonary embolism . It is indeed a dangerous condition .
