How do I know if my Albuterol inhaler is empty? A link to a website on this will also be useful. Thanks.?

I just got a new inhaler. It's Proventil (same basic thing as Albuterol) HFA and it has a counter on the back of it telling me how many doses are left. It's really nice! In the past, I always had to shake it and hope I could get a puff or two, but that's so unreliable. You should ask your doctor or pharmacist about it the next time you need a refill.
Go to: www@webmd.com. Type in "Albuterol" in the search engine. Since I have to use mine periodically, it's been awhile since I've run out. One thing I know: Don't try to squirt the medication in your mouth with the inhaler turned like an "r." It works, but not like it should be! I STILL laugh about that when I think of it!
you're supposed to count each time you take a puff and subtract it from the number of total doses in the container.
there's really no other way to know.
when you get no more out of it then its empty!
MY LITTLE GRANDAUGHTERS INHALER HAD THE NUMBER OF DOSES SHE USED ON THE INHALER. IT KEPT TRACK OF IT FOR HER...
FOR INSTANCE YOU HAVE SO MANY PUFFS YOU CAN TAKE...IT WOULD SAY ON THE INHALER HOW MANY PUFFS WERE LEFT...
ASK YOUR PHARMACIST ABOUT IT.
in the paper you get inside of the box it tells you some thing you can do about putting the tube into water and depending on how it floats it will tell you about how much is in there. i dont know really it looked kinda of weird i never have tried it myself. but it gives you pictures too.
One way is to shake it and listen to whats inside..thats how i do it.
Your inhaler must have a dosis counter, i believe. If not ask where you bought it.
Nothing will come out...
There is one method that can be used. Place the Albuterol container into a sink of water. If it sinks, then it's full, if it bobs, then is halfway full, if it floats, then it is almost ( if not completely) empty. It is always best to have a spare Albuterol handy in the event that the Albuterol that you would presently using, becomes empty. I hope this helps.
