Answers:
you only need worry if there is a possibility of it becoming air borne if there is then you need to take care of it and no it won't be cheap sorry
its not toxins in asbestos that cause the damage its the asbestos its self
its has been banned for quite some time however it was not just used in military buildings and industrial it was used in residential also
it was put in drywall, drywall mud, floor tiles, floor tile glues, and even some insulation.
however it (in most cases) takes a considerable amount of exposure to create a problem.
erm i would get it checked out definatly. contact your councel or somthing quickly
hope u are okay, sure u will be
i would get it checked but as for being dangerous i wouldnt think so it is generally if the asbestos is aggravated or broken that it releases the toxins that are harmfull
Asbestos is a mutagen that causes cell structure to alter over a period of many years constant exposure. Reasonably safe when undisturbed. We have all lived our lives surrounded by the stuff in public buildings particularly schools but when it is undisturbed in the walls and ceiling its fairly harmless. In my area many boiler makers have developed it from working with it during the 40's and 50's. Its worth making further enquiries certainly but I wouldnt loose any sleep over it.
Where do you live? Asbestos has been banned for a long time and was mostly used in army barracks or factories.
Asbestos related diseases, such as mesothelioma, take years and years to develop.
Doctors are going to see the biggest influx of such patients in the next few years, all due to post 2nd World War exposure.
First you need to be sure what exactly is in those tiles.
The woman a few streets away might have been exposed to asbestos way back and this has nothing to do with the tiles.
If anyone in your family starts getting breathless or wheezy, go to the hospital and tell the doctors exactly what you are concerned about.
But it is probably o.k.
