What are the symptoms of IBS?

Question:
I am 22 and I use the bathroom irregularily. Like some days I may go in the morning 10min after I wake up, and some days I have to go during work or afterwards. It is usually easy to go, but on occasion it may be a bit loose, or on occasion it may be a bit harder to push out (especially right before my period, it is still this way now even though I am on birth control). What other symptoms are there of IBS.

Answers:
The trigger is an important aspect of the diagnosis . Like for some people , DIARRHEA brought on by STRESS , or sometimes FLATULENCE . Sometimes it is in responce to some types of FOOD and GAS beverages . But the STRESS part (bowel abnormality related to mental state of being) that is more common in my opinion and more characteristic of IBS .

Try taking a fiber supplement and eating more RAW fruit and vegetables. Also drink water 1 hour before or after eating, not during. You can also look into taking a probiotic supplement to aid digestion.
IBS (or Irritable Bowel Syndrome) is characterized by changes in bowel movements from very loose, almost diarrhea-like movements to hard movements which may be difficult to pass. The changes can be rapid, usually changing within a few days of each other. Other symptoms include abdominal cramping, bloating and discomfort. People with IBS often feel an urgent need to open their bowels, especially after breakfast. Afterwards, there may be a sense that the bowels have not been completely emptied. Women are more likely to suffer from constipation than diarrhea. Other symptoms include a bloated abdomen, excess gas, nausea, and indigestion. Some people also experience a sense of fullness. There may also be associated problems, such as back and groin pain, lethargy, depression, disturbed sleep and a tendency to urinate more frequently. The need to pass water is sometimes very urgent, and doing so can be painful (these symptoms are more common for women). Women may also experience painful periods and pain during sexual intercourse.

Probably the easiest (and most often recommended) treatment for IBS is diet change. You'll likely be asked to add more fiber to your diet. You may find that adding an over-the-counter fiber supplement to your diet aids in treating the condition. It's important to drink enough fluids, (around six to eight glasses of water a day or so that your urine is no darker than straw colored). For people with constipation this helps the fiber to work; for people with diarrhea it replaces lost fluids.
Other symptoms could be severe cramping until you have gone to the toilet.
I have Chron's disease and my symptoms have only recently been brought under control.
You could be hit with an urge to go to the toilet any time in the day, sometimes you may even wake up in the middle of the night and go several times until the pain abates.
Lethargy is also quite a common symptom, along with nausea.
Try cutting out lactose (no milk chees etc, not nice if you are a bit of a cheese nut like me) and also gluten (ie anything with wheat in it)
Also get a blood test.
IBS is a common misdiagnosis for Celiac Disease, which is far more common and actualy easier to treat. There are tests for Celiac disease and the only 'treatment' is a lifelong gltuen free diet. The symptoms are nearly identical to IBS except Celiac causes a wide range of other symptoms including, female problems, infertility, dental issues, hair loss, Raynauds disease, neuropathies and higher incidence of cancer as well as the typical stomach issues. THere is also a specific rash asociated with Celiac disease.
Feel free to email me if u have more questions or think u might actually have Celiac (FYI Celiac is HIGHLY hereditary also, IBS isnt necessarily so. Celiac is genetically passed down.)
