Eczema over my 2 year old's eye! Yes we have seen a doctor & she was given Elidel?
Question:
Does anyone use this themselves or for their children?
Do you know of any side effects personally?
I have read alot on the internet. Her eye looks really bad. It doesn't help that it just started getting 100 degrees here (DFW area, TX) I am putting the Elidel on her eye as directed. She can't use a steroid cream because they have been known to cause cataracts and even blindness when used directly over the eye. So I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this... My poor baby looks so sad. =(
Answers:
Our 11 mo has severe eczema (everywhere but palms of hands and bottom of feet). We use Elidel in addition to other things. It is very safe and many studies have been done on it safety for children 2 years and up. Even for periods up to two years.

I have a friend who used the products on this site. http://www.glyconutrients-health-nutriti...
He reckons it is the best thing on earth for Eczema. I haven't tried but I went with my friend to a presentation and was quite amazed and though skeptical was convinced. I have no connection with the product , don't sell it or use it but I think I would give it a try if my little boy had Eczema.
My daughter also has Eczema who is also 2 yrs old. She has it all over her body. We use Aveeno cream. Her Dr. did perscried Hydrocortisone & Triamcinolone, but dont use them.
When going out during the day i pack atlease 2 Aveeno cream & a spray bottle of water i keep in the freezer. Keeping her skin cool @ all times & creaming her body.
Last year summer i went back home with the baby to Visit my parents in HAWAII and the first day there her skin was clear ECZEMA FREE. I was happy and so was my daughter. She was in heaven running around being a kid. The first day back in the States it's back.
So then of course her Dr. says living here is not good for her skin. WELL NO $H!*! lol!
Wild oats has good products for eczema. I try to stay away from any medication because of the side effects.
GOOD LUCK!
LIVE ALOHA!!
we are moving
back home 2 Hawaii
for our daughter next summer.

What about allergy medicine? My son is taking Hydroxyzine with steroid creme for his eczema and he hasn't had problems since. The dermatologist said that eczema is a allergic reaction. It could help. Hydroxyzine is the same as Claritin. We get the Hydroxyzine because our son takes it three times a day and it gets expensive. You might want to try Claritin.
