More gluten=more symptoms?

Question:
ive been having bloating for a few months now... nutritionist has me trying gluten free for a week but im finding it incredibly difficult.if i reduce my gluten intake to ALMOST nothing, will i see results (if i am in fact allergic)? or do i have to cut it out 100% to see results? i guess my question really is--can i eat a TINY bit of gluten on my gluten-free diet?

Answers:
If you have Celiac disease, even a small amount of gluten can aggravate symptoms. If the nutritionist suspects sensitivity to gluten, you could still have undiagnosed Celiac. There are many gluten free products available at health food stores. I would eliminate gluten, see if it makes a difference. If it does, i would follow up with a physician and get tested for Celiac. Check out the www.celiac.org for more information on Celiac/Gluten sensitivity.
100% cut. If you are allergic to it the any tiny amount would set off the reaction
Gluten is found in wheat starh and it should not be so difficult to cut it off. You can live off rice, corn , soya, beans, potatoes, etc
If u have allergies, celiac disease or gluten intolerance you need to be 100% Gluten Free FOR LIFE. I would highly suggest you see a GI doc bc the testing for CD is really not that difficult (if u have insurance!). Its a blood test usually first, then an endoscopy with biopsy. But u must see a GI who knows CD and who is familliar with it. U also NEED to be eating gluten for these tests so if u are considering the tests, you need to consult with the doc first on how long to eat gluten first. (my rule of thumb is go crazy eating it bc u want the results to be accurate.) This is why I do not recommend starting the GF diet on your own bc many ppl inevitably do testing and they have to subject themsevles again to gluten after they've been GF for awhile. Its just harder.
GF eating is hard. But once u get used to it, it become second nature, u read labels like a pro, u learn all the books, sites, cookbooks, and places to eat. I can help guide u with that if u'd like just email me on answers.
Hope it workso ut!
