Positive for UTI, Possible kidney infection?

Question:
I am waiting to see the doc after his clinic closes- says he wants to see me today but was booked and couldn't fit me in. But I was just wondering how severe the pain is for kidney infection? I have been having sharp jolts of pain on my lower right side, both in the abs and on my back. I was tested positive for UTI yesterday, however I wasn't having these pains at the time. Is there any way for me to rule out the kidney infection? It does get more painful when I turn to the left (looking for blind spot while driving) and when I try to stand back up from a sitting position. Any advice will help! I am seeing my doc in 2 hours- but I'm really curious...

Answers:
I had a kidney infection and had to go the the ER I was in so much pain. I had sharp pains in my lower right side. It would be there for sometime and then stop. When it came back it would be worse. I thought that my appendix erupt but, thankfully it was only a kidney infection.

I had the same problem with sitting and standing, and sitting to laying down.

Also, if your urine is cola or tea colored, that is a good sign it is a kidney problem.

I hope all works out well for you. Be sure to finish ALL the pills!
sounds like there's a good chance the infection is spreading up toward your kidneys, or might've already reached them. the doctor will be able to answer all your questions and give you the proper treatment for it. good luck
I had a kidney infection and couldn't even stand up. Not only was it very painful, it was completely draining and exhausting. Good thing you are seeing the doctor today.. Lower right quadron contains appendix also, could be ovarian cyst or even just muscular but with current UTI, it's probably just escalated to the kidneys. Ultrasound or xray will hopefully determine what is causing your pain. The kidney infection I had was not preceded by a UTI or bladder infection. Sulfur medication and a week's rest and I was better. Good luck.
