Are you a young person with type 1DM or an older person with type2? Type 2 DM can usually be controlled fairly well with a ketogenic eating plan. You just have to stop eating carbs and cut them down to a really low amount. In order to get your diet under control eat fat. Butter, cream, olives, olive oil, avocados eggs fried in butter, etc. But don't eat sugar. Fat is not transfered into blood glucose in your body. It will fill you up and yet keep your sugar low. You will drop your cholesterol and you blood sugar if you increase your fat intake and protien intake.
If you are a type 1 DM patient with "juvenile" DM you will simply have to get your insulin increased from your doctor. This is an auto immune disease, and healthy eating cannot solve it.
five hundred and seven? you should be dead... scratch that... you are dead. perhaps you made a typo??
You RUN to the emergency room in the hospital. Or call the paramedics. 600 is usually death.
Admit the patient to the hospital. Treatment of hyperglycemia requires elimination of the underlying cause, e.g., treatment of diabetes when diabetes is the cause. Acute and severe hyperglycemia can be treated by direct administration of insulin in most cases, under medical supervision.
you really need to see a doctor or got to the ed i had some prblems always thirsty always peeing i work in the er and i thought it was because of the antibiotics i was on but in reality my sugars were 956 thats right i was not in a coma nor dead i was given insulin thru a pump and put on meds 8 mts later im okay on meds but okay dont risk it its your life
If you are still a live when you read this: go the emergency room immediately!
Get your butt to an ER NOW. This is serious. I don't know what happened to cause your sugar to spike like that but you need emergency treatment. This is not something you can treat on your own. You will need IV rehydration and probably IV insulin. Either have someone drive you or call an ambulance. DO NOT drive yourself. Go now.
EMT
As for the people who said you should be dead...that's not neccesarily true. I've seen people a lot higher than that (highest I've ever seen was 1200). It IS a very serious situation though and you need to be treated. You are at serious risk for DKA which can be fatal. Do not wait.
Get to hospital immediately before ketoacidosis sets in. This is too high for you to treat.
It is not true that you should be dead with a blood glucose of 500 or even 600... However, you need to get it down because it is doing damage to you while it is high. Are you on insulin? Fast-acting insulin would take care of it.
507 does not mean death!
My daughter was 537 last night and she is fine today, at work now.
It turned out that she left her Novalog pen in the car yesterday - probably got too hot and went bad. Her blood sugar was high before dinner, but not too high. Then at midnight it was 537. When she opened a new insulin cartridge last night, her blood came right down to normal.
If it is persistently high you do need to call your doctor on an emergency basis. But if you are on insulin, you might try opening a new bottle.
u need to go to the hospital and let them bring it down for u or u could go in to a diabetic coma. i would call your doctor immediatly and tell him what is going on they need to be aware of this soon this is a EMERGENCY!!!!!!
Excuse me! I had a blood sugar over 600, yes I went to the hospital and was admitted but the only symptom I had was feeling shaky. Yes, go to the er. They will probably give you insulin to bring it down but if you aint dead yet, then you ain't gonna die.
OKay, my endocrinologist told me this formula that he siad doctors use all around the country. I don't know if you've heard of it before. what you do is subtract 125 from the number. You should have a number of 382. Now, you divide that number by 25. You should have 15.28. Round down to 15. !5 units is the amount of insulin you should take. It should bring you down around to 125mg/dL.
by continuos insulin infusion...of course this should be done in a hospital.. If youre blood sugar is this high, you consult your doctor immediately as this may be a sign of a HYPERGLYCEMIC EMERGENCY..Blood sugar this high may signify presence of diabetic ketoacidosis or hyperglycemic hyperosmolar state which should be aggressively managed ASAP!
that s way too high. you need to go to the er. mine was that high when i was in school and i slipped into a comma. i would go to the er so they can bring t down fast and safe.
