Spinach and Oxalic acid and Diabetes.?

Question:
I believe that diabetics should avoid oxalic acid, however spinach has so many other beneficial elements, I'm wondering if spinach avoidance is desirable.

Answers:
My personal belief is that spinach has so many beneficial nutrients in it that it's got to be good for you. My body craves it. It's one of my favorite vegetables, and it's got to be better for you than the cookies I also crave...It sounds like yes, you're trying to do the right things for yourself, but did you REALLY need to ask the question, "Is spinach rally good for you?" I mean, isn't that pretty obvious and pretty much common sense? Rhubarb is also good for you, and so are beets and beet greens, and they're high in oxalic acid, too. If you've already had kidney stones, then yeah, maybe it's best to avoid, but if you're just wondering, as Louise Hay says, "If it grows in the ground, I eat it."
