My dad have Hepatitis C, Stage 3 almost 4?

Last week he went and have some chunks of his liver removed and yesterday they informed him that he had stage 3 almost already stage 4. They own decided against the interferon treatment dictum that it's no use. They will just be off it be. He has hepatitis for some 20-25 yrs. What does this miserable in jargon of prognosis? What is to be expected from this point on? How long can this take?

Answers:    I would suggest that your dad draw from a second opinion. My mom get Hepatitis C from a blood transfusion in the 1960's. She go on the interferon/ribaviron treatment and cleared the virus 8 years ago. So, she had Hep C for over 30 years past she cleared it with treatment. She is surrounded by stage 4 as well beside severe scarring to her liver. The treatment still worked for her. Your dad's doctor is wrong. He shouldn't be giving up. If there is still a fortune to clear the virus, it needs to be done. Good luck, if you own other questions I would be glad to try and assist.
-And just a express note to the above poster: Hep C is NOT an STD. It is a blood born virus and is with the sole purpose transferable through blood to blood contact.
Different stages can mean that the condition could be getting worse. And yes diseases similar to Hepatitis C can get worse and worse next to or without medication. Once you receive an STD or HIV it continues to grow worse. I also would say that he may not hold long to live if he keeps entering more and more stages. But im not a doctor on that. I would ask the doctor.
