Question:
I've been taking thyroxin for about six weeks for an under-active thyroid. I was expecting to feel much more alert and in less need of sleep (I was constantly tired before they prescribed the thyroxin) but in fact it doesn't seem to have made much difference with the tiredness.
Any advice would be much welcome because I'm oversleeping to the point where it's very worrying. Many thanks.
Answers:
My husband had his thyroids removed several years ago due to thyroid cancer. He has been taking thyroxine tablets for some time now.He says that you do tend to get tired on them.He has regular blood tests done to see what his thyroxine levels are.If need be they will adjust the dosage of the tablets you are taking. Please check with your doctor.
