Why does lipstick make the sking peel in my mouth?

Question:
I know this is disgusting, but does it happen to anybody else? It doesn't matter what brand or color I use, after I have lipstick on for say an hour, the skin inside my mouth begins to peel. Why does this happen? What can I do about it?

Answers:
Do you mean your lips begin to peel? This happens to me often, no matter what kind of lipstick I use. To prevent it, I use a small amount of Carmex or other type of chap stick first and then put lipstick on over it. Seems to help!
maybe allergies
I used Burt's Bees Lip Balm first, but sounds like you may want to go to your local health food store (like a Henry's, Sunflower, etc.) and get an organic lipstick. I bet you are allergic to some ingredient in store-bought brands. Never buy that long lasting lipstick either, it makes the problem worse.
Like skin, your lips tend to exfoliate if you rub it, peeling tends to happen especially if your lips are dehydrated. Happens to me all the time. I usually apply chap sticks first to moisturize the lips and then put lipstick.
Are you talking about the on the inside of your lips? Is it white and sort of slimy? This happens to me when I use lip gloss sometimes. I'm not sure why though-I think it has to do with the ingredients along with loosening the skin on your lips that has already started to peel. What helps me is every day after I brush my teeth I gently brush my lips..sounds crazy but really works and have read about this in many magazines after I started doing it. Your lips need exfoliation just like the rest of your body. So just gently scrub your lips everyday and apply carmex or gloss and you probably won't have that problem as much and your lips will be smooth and supple.
