Intestinal Blockage?
Gastro said to pocket 2 laxative drinks a day and enjoy 10 drops of a different laxative at night. He said to try this for three weeks. Now 3 weeks then I am still in misery and am only going to toilet in the order of 3 times a week. Stools are really thin.
Gastro have ordered colon and endoscopies in a weeks time as blockage is still near.
HISTORY - had appendix out 3 months ago ( appendix adhere to my bowel - tough surgery. Have had stomach cramps after surgery and be ongoing until really bad and go to ER - blockage found. Have had some blood within stool a few months ago)
I am only 13 and am wondering what adjectives this means.
Why is my blockage still here and what can I expect the outcome to be?

Answers: hi anna, were you checked beforehand all of this happen and tested for either crohn's or Ulcerative colitis?? I right to be heard this because most pts. w/this disease are prone to blockages.
Also, as a pt. who is prone to blockages myself, why in the world would an ER doc distribute you home w/a blockage instead of contacting your GI asap. That is the normal protocol...a pt. comes within with signs/symptoms for bowel jam they do a STAT xray, CBC panel, give the pt. IV cramp medication as well as IV fluid to prevent dehydration. Did you hold an nausea/and or vomiting with this??
If you are basically constipated, that is another story. I don't know what your chart read, but if it is a full blown bowel blockage, you should have be admitted to the hospital for watch, given clear fluids or put on TPN to see if the obstuction would resolve itself or if surgery is needed.
You don't mess with an impediment as the bowel can swell to the size of a basketball and then perforate cause serious complications.
If you are still in extreme distress, have your folks help yourself to you to the ER to get this resolved and hold the ER doctor contact your GI immediately to gain further care.
The colonoscopy and endoscopy will determine how much inflammation is surrounded by your gut and if there is any narrowing. upright luck to you.
