I have a hard lump on the inner base of my middle finger. I think it is calcium. How can I get rid of it?

Question:
I had similar lumps on my left hand several years ago, and one day swinging a hammer, I "jarred" the spot real hard. Hurt like hell for about 10 mins, but the lumps were gone! Now I've tried it with this one, but can't get it all. I slammed my hand on the corner of a table and removed part of it but once again... it hurt! Is this O.K. to do or do I need to actually hit it with the hammer?

Answers:
Well, I had one for like a year or so and I just left it alone and it went away all by itself. You dont have to hit yourself with a hammer. I would go to the doctor if they are big though.
Either calcium or even more probably fibre deposits, they usually can be removed at a local hospital via local anesthetic, to remove the deposit.

You don't need to do either of them because all you are doing is injuring yourself. It is not calcium to my knowledge it is called a kelvis. It is just a bump caused by gripping something real hard for a long time like pencils or weights. I had them a lot when I was weight lifting, you can do one of two things bite it or just leave it alone, it will go away in a few days or a couple of weeks if you leave it alone. This is all Ican tell you to do with it.
These may be ganglionic cysts. They may occur when the protective sheath around a tendon or joint splits and allows the tendon to poke through, forming a fluid-filled cyst. They may indeed spontaneously rupture (they hurt when this happens) or they may simply go away. They may also become large enough to require surgical intervention.

In fact, these cysts were once called "Bible Cysts" because people once used heavy books (like Bibles) to smash the cysts. Obviously you've independently discovered the same treatment.

Please read about ganglionic cysts (also called Baker's Cysts) at http://www.emedicinehealth.com/ganglion_...

It is possible to treat these cysts without going to a physician, but traumatizing them with a hammer or a door is not appropriate. You may cause damage to the other structures, bones, and nerves in your hand. And as the cysts may involve tendons, you may permanently injure the tendon involved.
