It is a disease that can lead to death. I am not sure that anyone gets into such thinking that they want to die, but the food struggle becomes a life struggle quickly.
While a severe case of anorexia can be deadly if ot goes untreated, it is not really a form of suicide. It is a much more complicated disease dealing with one's image of oneself.

I don't think the people who do it realize how dangerous it can be.
I think they say to themselves that their just going to lose 10 pounds or so, then more, then more.
I think they care so much about popularity, their willing to risk their own life for it. So, no, it's not.
Anorexia is a bonafide medical condition. It is also the eating disorder with the most fatalities in it. It is extremely serious and life threatening. Anorexia (note the spelling) is starving yourself because your thinking is very distorted and sick. You cannot see yourself or your body or your actions clearly and you starve yourself to death.
There is help out there, many that can help an anorexic person if the anorexic will seek help in time. They need serious professional help and there is no fast cure.

Anorexia is perfectly safe. I have been anorexic for 23 years. Just go for it. I mean i'm sure you dont want to be fat or anything.
In a round about way it is, but is is also something that needs to be treated. So if you have it and don't want to do any further damage to your body then you need to see a professional. Karen Carpenter (singer) died of heart problems due to anorexia. Very sad.
