What can I do about severe swelling in my feet and legs after 9 bags of IV fluids?"?
Question:
Answers:
I might be wrong, but I'm puzzled as to why everybody is telling you to see your doctor - like how come you get nine bags if IV fluids WITHOUT medical supervision in the first place ! ! !
wow that's a lot. Maybe there's fluid in your feet and they'll have to lance them to drain it.
good luck!
Hmmm...Did you think about calling your doctor? Sounds like you are retaining water----edema.
Doesn't that make sense? Calling your doctor? Yes. Even if the office is closed for the night, they will page your doctor. This is serious.
go to a doctor
ask your doctor!! you'll get too many answers here and something like this seems pretty serious.
be safe!

they need to give you a diuretic. That will help with the swelling. Get well soon.
The best thing to do is ask your doctor
Detach the bags! Hurry!
If this is a serious question, you need medical attention right away!
Huh? Well, maybe rap your feet and lower legs rather tightly with ace bandages, and keep them elevated? Also, exercise. Avoid salt?
ask the doc for something
Go see your doctor. If you can't wait around for your family doctor, then go to a hospital.
Wow, that's a lot of fluids.
Keep your legs and feet raised as much as you can, first of all. Second, you want to use a diuretic like vitamen C, I'd recommend taking 1000 mg a day. Basially you want your system to move that fluid and process it normally, it's basically stuck there.
The skin on your legs and feet probably feel tight and sensitive. Careful, the skin really is sensitive so try to wear loose fitting soft clothing for awhile. Pay attention to the tight skin, if it ever breaks open and bleeds, seek medical attention right away.
After taking Vitamen C for a couple of days, you should see a major imrovment. If not, again, seek medical attention.
I'm with Johnny Reb on this one -- wrap your legs with Ace bandages (unless there are any open sores), elevate your legs above the level of the heart (sleep in a recliner if necessary), absolutely no salt, plenty of fluids to drink (believe it or not), and call you doctor in the morning. Although edema is uncomfortable and frightening, it is certainly better than fluid collecting in and around the heart or lungs. Best of luck!
