How close to your first dose should your second dose of Hepatitis B vaccine be?

Question:
My doc told me to come in for the second dose in a month, but now I have bronchitis. How long can I put off the second dose? (Oh, and BTW, I have minor surgery scheduled for the 13th.)

Answers:
The second dose can be given no sooner than a month after the first one- but there is no 'time limit" . The thrid dose needs to be given 6 months after the second but again No "time limit"
It really does not matter. My medics told me the more time between them the better.
If the vaccination series is interrupted after the first dose, the second dose should be administered as soon as possible. The second and third doses should be separated by an interval of at least 2 months. If only the third dose is delayed, it should be administered when convenient.
See the link below for the schedule of vaccinations for hep B. Best wishes.
