Do I, a 13 year old kid, have Diabetes?
Question:
Answers:
It's possible, but if your only symptom is excessive thirst, I'd say that's just due to the horrible heat lately. There are a lot of other symptoms that go with diabetes. Just drink plenty of water when you feel thirsty (lay off the caffinated beverages, those just dehydrate you more and you'll feel more thirsty).
Lol No you dont man .. when i was your age i was scared of stuff like that but see if you think that you have it and try to find symptoms in you that have this you will try soo hard to find something and you will mistake something for it. But there are like 50 other symptoms of it so that can be normal dude.
Anyways You shouldnt be thinkin about that stuff. You should be thinking about girls, sports , hangin out with friends.
So just enjoy life
it's probably El niño bro ... the hot weather were havin . but if u really wanna be sure see a doctor coz diabetes knows no age ... young or old u could have this sickness
no dont worried about it or go ask ur mom to make appointment to get check up and ask ur doctor
I have a child that was diagnosed with diabetes long before she turned ten years old. She is now in her twenties and has a son of her own who is about to turn four. When she was diagnosed there were MANY symptoms. Thirsty, frequent urination, and she had many of the flu like symptoms.
If your ONLY symptom is being excessively thirsty I would say it is the summer heat. Drink lots of WATER to stay hydrated.
sweetie az much az i would like 2 tell u no there`s a strong possibilty but it`s nothing 2 be ashamed of or afriad of as long az u stay healthy and do what ever u need 2 do to better your self,so dont feel down because it`s not ur fault just leave in the lord hand`s he will see you through, and kno this that whenever u need some one 2 talk 2 im here 4 u mi prayers r with love always mz.ruffin
It is hard to tell from having 1 symptom, And there usually are more than 1 , the best way to check if you have diabetes is to get a blood test from doctor, to be sure, and any one any age can get diabetes
Some diabetes symptoms include:
Frequent urination
Excessive thirst
Extreme hunger
Unusual weight loss
Increased fatigue
Irritability
Blurry vision
If you have one or more of these diabetes symptoms, see your doctor right away
Honey, diabetes is no respecter of age,. But you don't sound like you have symtoms of it. As a nurse, I can remember going thru training and every time we learned the symptoms of a new disease or condition, we could relate to it. You can make your imagination work overtime and fit symptoms to any disease. If you are worried, have your mother take you to the doctor for a simple test. That will tell you and put your mind at rest.

Do You Have Diabetes?
Millions of people have diabetes mellitus, commonly called diabetes. You may be surprised to know that many of these people don’t even know they have it.
Diabetes is a serious disease and should not be ignored. If you have it, correct treatment can help you live a long and healthy life.
What Is Diabetes?
If you have diabetes, your body can’t make or use insulin. Insulin helps change sugar into energy to keep you alive.
There are different kinds of diabetes. The main ones are type 1 and type 2.
Type 1 Diabetes
This type of diabetes is mostly found in children and young adults. If you have type 1 diabetes, your body does not make insulin and you must inject insulin daily.
You May:
urinate often
be very thirsty
be very hungry
lose a lot of weight
be very tired
be irritable
have blurred vision
have trouble seeing.
Type 2 Diabetes
Most people with diabetes have this form of the disease. Type 2 is usually found in people over 45, who have diabetes in their family, who are overweight, who don’t exercise, and who have cholesterol problems. It is also common in certain racial and ethnic groups (blacks, American Indians, and Hispanics) and in women who had diabetes when they were pregnant. If you have type 2 diabetes, your body cannot make enough insulin or correctly use it. Treatment is diabetes pills and sometimes insulin injections, as well as diet and exercise.
You May Have:
any of the symptoms of type 1 diabetes
a lot of infections
cuts or bruises that heal slowly
tingling or numbness in the hands or feet
skin, gum, or bladder infections that keep coming back.
Controlling Diabetes
Daily monitoring and careful control of blood sugar levels are the most important steps to take for people with diabetes. If not treated, diabetes can cause:
High blood sugar (which could make you thirsty, tired, lose weight, urinate often, or give you infections that won’t go away)
Many serious health problems (which could hurt your eyes, kidneys, nerves, or heart).
Warning: Low Blood Sugar
People with diabetes may develop low blood sugar because their blood has too much insulin or other blood sugar-lowering medication or from not eating enough food. It is important to follow the eating and medication schedule your doctor has prescribed to avoid low blood sugar.
Low blood sugar could make you shaky, dizzy, sweaty, hungry, have a headache, have pale skin color, have sudden mood or behavior changes, have clumsy or jerky movements, have difficulty paying attention, feel confused, or have tingling sensations around the mouth.
Taking Care of Your Diabetes
The best way to take care of your diabetes is to make sure the levels or amount of sugar in your blood are near the normal range. This will make you feel better and help you stay healthy.
Your doctor will tell you how often to check your blood sugar level. To do this, you will need to take a drop of your blood and place it on a special test strip. Then a device, called a blood glucose meter, reads the strip. This device measures the amount of sugar in your blood.
Writing down this level, along with the time and date, will help you see how well your treatment plan is working.
Remember:
A person’s blood sugar level rises after eating any meal that contains carbohydrates or protein. Table sugar (also called ?sucrose) counts as a carbohydrate. Artificial sweeteners, such as saccharin, aspartame (NutraSweet), and sucralose (Splenda), do not count as carbohydrates or fats. They make food taste sweet. But they do not raise blood sugar levels and have little or no calories.
What Else Can You Do?
Eat well-balanced meals. The right amount of healthy food will keep your weight under control and help manage your diabetes.
Your body needs food from the four main food groups every day:
Fruits and vegetables (oranges, apples, bananas, carrots, and spinach)
Whole grains, cereals, and bread (wheat, rice, oats, bran, and barley)
Dairy products (milk, cheese, and yogurt)
Meats, fish, poultry, eggs, dried beans, and nuts.
Remember:
Too much fat and cholesterol in your diet can be very harmful to people with diabetes. Food that is high in fat includes red meat, dairy products (whole milk, cream, cheese, and ice cream), egg yolks, butter, salad dressings, vegetable oils, and many desserts.
Can You Do Anything Else?
Exercise is important for good diabetes control. It usually lowers blood sugar and may help insulin work better. Exercise and a healthy diet can also help you take off extra pounds if you are overweight.
Warning:
Check with your doctor before starting any exercise program. You may need a snack before or during the activity to avoid having low blood sugar while you exercise.
Hi! I suggest that you see a Doctor for check up regarding your concern if you have Diabetes. I'm sure the Doctor will recommend you for diabetes test.
Just for curiousity sake, I would like to know if you eat chicken egg. If so, how often do you eat egg and how do you cook it. If you can provide me this information, I will explain to you why.
sincerely,
Well, probably not, you're not describing classic symptoms for diabetes, and if I were your doctor I wouldn't be worried about diabetes upon hearing that story. That having been said, the only way to really check for the disease is to get a blood glucose level (preferably a fasting level first thing in the morning). With what you're describing though, I wouldn't even bother with that, just drink more water, but if you're drinking enough and still thirsty all the time, then you should see your doctor, there may be something wrong.
Dude.Of course your going to be thirsty.
IT'S BEEN 100 DEGREES AND OVER THIS WEEK!
As for the diabetes thing.I don't think so.Just eat the right stuff.
not sugerey stuff.
At any rate,I'm sure you don't have it.
If you aren't sure, ask your mom and get tested for it.
Go to a website and search about it.
I was your age when I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Some of the symptoms that I experienced were excessive thirst, frequent urination, tiredness, sugar cravings, weight loss.
If you are only experiencing thirst, then I would say probably not. You may just be dehydrated..make sure you are drinking 8 glasses of water a day. If you are worried, keep an eye out for these symptoms, or go to the doctor. It's better to be safe than sorry.
