Question:
Answers:
YES,Ihad bells palsy over 20yrs ago. I got no warning, went to bed 1 night, woke up with it in the morning.Thought i`d had a bloody stroke, scared the **** out of me at the time.Anyway like previous answers i was put on steroids. Its amazing that theres no clear cause, well their was`nt then, might be now . I put mine down to being hit on the temple with a cricket ball, which put me in hospital overnight, 2 months before, but nothing was proven. GOOD LUCK
Yes, it is normal.
Aint heard o this in a long time, i had it when i was 19 and it was weird as hell, i didn't have any pain with it just half of my face paralised, drinking a pint was a mess and you look daft when you laugh n things or make expressions, if i remember correct it's caused by a swelling of the ear drum thus trapping a nerve and it was then impossible to tell how long it lasts from days to years, mine lasted about 2 months or so, i only had pain with getting shampoo or soap in my eye when showering, i would see the doc again if i were you.
Two people i know had it but how long it can last is different for each person. one of my friends had it and it lasted 5 days. The other one she had it for a month . It looked more like a stroke, and pulled her eye and mouth down. she could not close her eye properly and she was in discomfort. but everything fine now. so i think what you are experiencing is normal but if it would reasure you, go to the docs anyway, that is what they there for.
I had a friend a while back who developed bells palsy...his face was paralized on one side...and, for some reason, it just went away on its own one day.
For me personal, I got bit by a deer tick, which subjected me to lymes bacteria, - I went to an infectious disease specialist, and he put me on 6 weeks of doxyclcyline.
after I was threw with the treatment, I asked how I can be sure I will never develope lymes disease...and, the Dr. told me that if you develop bells palsy, that this is one of the results of lymes disease...
I am not trying to scare you...but, perhaps your doctor should do a test on you for lymes, and, perhaps you can request the doxycycline routine...
dont worry, things happen in life, and, mostly they make us stronger...
best wishes, and, let me know how you are...
my mother in law got it about 6 years ago,she was on tabs and to this day,her face hasnt gone back to her normal look, one side of her face is still rather stiff, she cant fully smile,
My daughter had it when she was about 10yrs old . The doctor didn't give her anything for it, he said it would probably go in a week or so. It lasted about 3 weeks. I don't remember her having any pain with it though, just a lot of difficulty drinking and when she slept one eye remained open.
Keep a check on this-could be a symptom of lyme disease borreliosis infection
