When i inject myself with Novolog insulin.?

Question:
When i inject myself and i put the needle on it, do i throw away the needle, or do i take the needle off and use it for the whole 1 day? The needle that i use on the novolog insulin is called the sterile needle.

Answers:
Today's needles are designed to be used once and disposed of ("use once and destroy"). Otherwise you run the risk of infection in your injection sites.
I always make my boyfriend throw away his needle when he puts his insulin. I think it's best to use a new one every time.
i use my needle for the whole day, because there too expensIve to use once and throw out I take 2 shots of insulin with 2 different pens 3x a day that would mean using 6 needles instead of 2 a day-- ive been doing it this way for over a year and no complications- the last poke of the day the needle is a little dull though
You don't reuse the needle. You need to bend the needle point or clip it off and throw it away. Some states have laws about clipping needles so they can't be re-used for drugs by other people. The more you use a needle the duller it gets and just think of it this way. It has been in your skin already and that is still on the needle do you really want to use it again? if you use more than one insulin you don't want to mix them even if there is only a small amount left in the syringe.
