Wouldn't LY be up if the WBC were up on blood panel?


Question:
With LY being part of the WBC, wouldn't the numbers coorelate? I just received a blood panel for my son, revealed that his WBC was up, and his LY were down? He's not on any antibiotics, or any other meds, but obviously had an infection at the time of testing. Thanks!

I'm not sure how this relates to diabetes, but I Googled lymphocyte and white blood cell count and came up with this. Hope it helps... I couldn't see any difference between the two:
