Are there any foods or natural remedies that lower blood sugar in type 2 diabetics?

Question:
I've heard that some vegetables like celery and green pepper can naturally lower blood sugar. Whether or not this is true, I don't know. I can't seem to find anything online about it, so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

There should be a ton of information online. Almost all your vegy's will help with keeping blood sugars level or lower. You can get any number of books that can help you with natural remedies. Everything from one quarter teaspoon of cinnamon a day to putting more fiber in your life to eating numerous small meals across the day are only a small smattering of what you can learn to treat type 2 on your own. Doesn't mean you should ignore the doctor, but if you get all the information together and organize it properaly and approach it seriously and follow through thoroughly then you have a good chance of keeping your blood sugar balanced and lower any dependence you have on medications.
Everything I have read about diabetes, and this goes against the American Diabetes Association to, says to eat low carb diet, that is the best way to lower your sugars.
I am diabetic and it is very difficult to do so, and I wasnt able to stay with it.
In addition to the low carbs drinking a glass of red wine at night will help to lower your sugars too.
Lastly, there was a study done by Guniness Beers, that I believe has been proven, that drinking one of their dark beers at night will also help to lower your sugars as well.
" Soy Bean Milk. "
Diabetes is a very serious illness and should not be taken lightly. Nor should you take a chance with your life and look for an alternative way to treat your disease. An out of control blood sugar can lead to heart disease, blindness, kidney failure, and gangrene and amputations to name just a few. And it can kill you from either being too high or too low. There are herbal remedies out there that can lower your sugar level (not enough to make much of a difference), but if you mix them with your medications the results could be fatal. Go to the American Diabetes Association's website for more information.
cinnamon is a good blood sugar reducer. they have cinnamon tablets if you dont like the taste, or put a ton of ground cinamon into oatmeal or yogurt. it will add texture and wont taste like you added too much.
yes drinking water, my sister would drink a glass of water 10-12 oz in 10 min then retest her sugar in 15 and it would be down. I also found out licorice can AVEDA makes a tea that has licorice in it but you can't taste it (i hate licorice but love the tea) the site I read said you would have to drink more than 3 cups a day
You should know your blood sugar from time to time. Have clear idea about the fasting sugar, preprandial sugar etc. Dont ask your doctor about the food you should take. Decide it yourself. Get a glucometer and decide your self what you have to eat, how much you have to etc. and how many times you have to eat. Repeat the test and establish you are getting more or less same results. Understand the effect of yoga, exercise on your system. You can even find out what medicine suits you.Try and get maximum information from net. Believe me your doctor is not suffering from diabetes. You can test his knowledge. I am sure he wont be able to explain, why when your blood sugar is high, your energy producing system fails and when blood sugar is under control, blood sugar gets converted into energy. Depend on your own brain power. Howewver dont disacrd your doctor as long as you do not have a feeling that you really have started understanding what you are doing with your diabetes.
i will tell u and i do this all the time when my sugar gets just a little high i eat pork rinds and it lowers my blood sugar by 25 or more every time but exercise is the best thing if you notice your sugar is raising just go for a walk at a good steady pace for about 15 minutes i promise it works
That is really a loaded questioin. many food effect blood sugar. But none really lower the blood sugar. Some don't raise it that high. Some have little effect, and others will raise it through the roof.

As for Wine or guiness, enjoy a glass with a meal. Sugars in Alcohol are processed diffrently then those of sugars found in foods. So While Alcohol products don't tend to raise your blood sugar excess drinking can put in you a coma because it can bring your blood sugar down dangerouslly low if not careful.

Best to exercise and eat properly that is the sercret.
