Question:
I have psoriasis on my scalp and it seems to be worsening...I managed to get rid of it a few years ago by using a cortisone based scalp lotion...but it's been back for a while and it seems to be worsening.please help

Answers:
I too--had really bad psoriasis on my scalp...So, my doc. prescribed for me, "Triamcinolone" ointment. This stuff cleared it up within two days! Remember the name of it, so you can get a prescription for it!
factors that can contribute to the development of psoriasis include:

Cold climates. Cold weather worsens symptoms.

Emotional or physical stress. Stress may cause psoriasis to appear suddenly or worsen symptoms (although this has not been proven in studies).

Certain medications, including some cardiac medications (beta-blockers) or psychotropic medications (for example, lithium), have been found to worsen psoriasis symptoms.

Currently there is no cure for psoriasis. However, many types of treatment are available, including products applied to the skin, phototherapy, and oral medications, that can keep psoriasis under control. Most cases are mild and can be treated with skin products. In some cases, psoriasis can be hard to treat if it is severe and widespread. Most psoriasis returns, even mild forms.

Stieprox shampoo, you'll need a prescription but it worked really well for my husband.

The Sun is a natural healer. I know it sounds silly. Not over exposure but abit sometimes helps that area.

I also suggest a tar based product.( not my fav but try it)

Lastly, go for the fattest oil.. coconut and get it organic and apply a small amount( do not sun with this on)
I have this pesty disease as well. It is congenital and is related extremely to genetics.

Bascially what you want to do, is use a topical steroid on the affected area. There are a few topical shampoos and medications (Clobex, Loprox) that your M.D. can prescribe to you to aid with this condition.

Using tar shampoo worsens it, please do not use this.
Until you see a dermatologist, start using non-medicated, unscented, mild shampoo and conditioner. This will minimize the amount of activity on the scalp, and will also minimize itching.

Best of luck,

Treating dandruff is really hard, and if your old remedy isn't working anymore, perhaps you should ask you dermatologist for a medicated shampoo to help you deal with your scalp psoriasis. Avoid stress as it may add to your psoriasis, and drink lots of water and keep yourself healthy.
