My ears have been ringing nonstop for 5 months. Any idea how to stop it?

Question:
I know they started ringing when I listened to my i-pod too loud once, but I keep the volume pretty low now. And besides getting a prescription, I don't know how else to make it go away.

Answers:
If you have tinnitus it may never go away. There are techniques you can use to drown out the ringing, such as playing music or having a tv on in the background. Depending how loud and annoying the ringing is, just keeping yourself occupied can minimise the effect it has on you.

It is best to get checked out by your doctor, because although tinnitus can sometimes be caused by listening to loud music or taking knocks to the head, sometimes it is also a symptom of other conditions.
put water in your ear and turn to the other side to let it out. eg water on left ear( turn to the right side open tap pour water into ear) then turn to the left side to let it out.
Sounds like you have tinnitus. You should really see a doctor. Request audiometry testing. It's possible that you have some hearing loss.
see a doctor!!
stop listening to loud music definitely

go see an ear doctor. i think they do free hearing screenings at small malls and clinics. just look it up in your yellow pages.
Luv that's tinitus. I did Sign Language at college and my teacher was nearly completely deaf. In the course she explained about tinitus - you get the hardly deaf at all level, where you get small bit of ringing and it goes away. As you get more deaf, the more tinitus you get. As she was born really deaf and it has got worse the older she has got, her tinitus has got worse and now she has constant tinitus - which sounds like what you've been having for the last 5 months. You really need to see a doctor to get your hearing tested. At the beginning of deafness, the hairs in the ears stand back up after a blow. The more damaged the hairs get, the more they lay flat which makes the tinitus. And you can't heal it. I really don't want to scare you, but you can't cure deafness. Seriously go to a doctor. Good luck xxxxx
