How do you treat Hyperglycemia?
Question:
Answers:
I assume you are an insulin diabetic. If so if you are symptomatic at 31mmol you should seek medical advice.
Take some extra fast acting insulin and have something to eat to help make the insulin work faster if your blood sugar levels stil dont go down you may have to seek proper medical advice
I'm not sure what those numbers equate to in regular numbers, but I am a nurse AND an insulin-dependent diabetic for more than 20 years.if your sugar is above 200, you should follow the guidelines/perimeters of the dosage of insulin your Dr. prescribed. If it is above 300, you are in danger of lapsing into keto-acidocis, which can be potentially life-threatening. You need insulin, but call your Doctor to find out how much!! Feel better soon! (Drink plain water in the meantime).
can of coke
I would take a rapid acting insulin if one is available to you and then keep a regular check during the night. Then see your gp or go to diabetic clinic tomorrow. If you have no insulin then go to a&e. I always work on the basis of its best to be safe.
absolutely if ure sugar levels r goin up 4 no apparent reason then call the doctor cos particularly at this level it becomes dangerous, hi lvls r often brought on by illness get a doctor 2 check u out straight away cos it is very delicate nd with diabetes it is highly important if ure sugar lvls r rong 2 call a doctor cos u r very susceptible 2 infection so do not delay call a doctor as soon as possible if u cant get a doctor call emergency services bcos it is vitally important u get seen 2 do not think it is wimpish bcos it is stupid if u put ure own health at risk call now cos if u sleep on it it could get worse over night nd sugar lvls take a long time 2 sort out call a doctor or emergency services IMMEDIATELY
