Question:
My glucose fasting range is anywhere between 102-105 and my dr an endocrinologist put me on Glumetza. But when ever I take it I become very sick and want to eat ALL the time, Im never full. I called my dr but they cant see me until Aug. I have Hashimoto's disease (thyroid disease) and I watch my weight very carefully, because its hard for me to loose weight, but now Im worried because of all the hunger pains I get. I increased my exercise and my water intake thinking water would fill me up but it doesnt, seems like the only theing that really helps is sugary things like soda, lemonade etc. Is this normal? One of my friends that has type 2 said my levels were normal and couldnt understand why I was even on the meds.
Answers:
102-105 is not that bad. How often, how much and what time of day are you taking the meds? Have you asked if you can do insulin instead? What are you eating before bed? You should have a snack before bed with some carbs and a lot of protein to slow the sugar release. I think most Dr's want you around 95 fasting. Definitely under 120! What are your before and after meal readings? How low are your fasting readings now that you are on the meds?
