6 year old girl often problems going to bathroom, Dr. says she has no internal problems...?

Question:
My daughter has had problems going to the bathroom since she was a baby. The doctor examined her and she has no major digestive problems, he says to give her more water and vegetables. I always make her drink water and eat healthy, balanced meals but she still ends up constipated and I feel so bad I can't help her. And ideas to help?

Answers:
Sigmund Freud would probably tell you that something happened to her during her anal stage.

Here's a recipe for something with fiber that might help. It's called Behm's mixture.
One cup of each of these: Apple Sauce, Fiber one cereal, Prune Juice. Mix it up in a bowl that has a lid, throw it in the fridge. Adults take 2 tablespoons a day, so she will need less. Make sure she has a glass of water with it. It should work wonders.
well i had the same problem when i was smaller but my urine was yellow it could be a kidney problem.my parents tell me to tell them whenever i try to use the bathroom but cant so then they give me an alaxitive.i hope that she gets better.
Feed her even more fruit and veggies. I had that problem and now that I am eating more fruit and veggies I don't have that problem any more. Also, you could feed her cereal with bran and barley.
Maybe its A Mental decease or maybe she saw a scary movie? trauma? hmm im not a doctor but try talking to her...just a thought
have her eat two dried prunes with each meal..they are sweet to taste so I'm sure she will like them..it will take three days usually to help, so be patient..My friends daughter at 20 still eats them to help her..she been doing it since she was three. she had same problem..If after 3 days it's not better increase to 3, before each meal..
I would consult your doctor first b/c she is so young, but my friend has a lot of digestive problems and the nutritionist recommeded "Activia" yogurt, by Dannon(i believe) She was told to eat 2 a day but i am sure 1 would be Plenty for a child... It really helped her, maybe it will help your daughter too!
Kero syrup will help, adding a fiber chewable reccomended dose of course. Making her try for at least ten minutes every day even if she dosen't have to go. My daughter has the same problem and these are some of the things her Dr. reccomended that worked for her. GOOD LUCK!
Fiber Fiber Fiber Fiber Fiber, she is too young to be swallowing tablets so you should get the fiber than dissolves in anything and taste like nothing, you can put it in water, that really helps out a lot,
Constipation is usually caused by either not enough fiber or not enough fluids.

Here's a site that has some good advice.
Some perfectly healthy foods like apple juice or apple sauce, bananas and rice can constipate. Fruits like cantelope, plums and peaches, and veggies like corn and beans of any kind, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers and other salad type ingredients may help. Avoid the bland starches and go for the roughage. Also, if she will eat yogurt, the kind with active cultures may help. Good luck!
I would suggest getting another doctor. She may not have anything wrong phsically but it is possible that her body is not processing her food as it really needs to. It could be that she has an allergy to something or she may have a case of IBS. It can effect children as well. Continue giving her a high fiber diet and plenty of water. Seek out a specialist.
