Ringworm infection?

Question:
Anyone ever have ringworm? How serious is it?

Answers:
Being a wrestler, i've seen it quite often, and it's not all that serious, i supose it could be worse untreated, but it is suprisingly simmple. Ringworm is a bactiria that gets under your skin and just grows, the reason it is called ringworm is because it forms kind of like a ring under the skin. It becomes very contagous. I remember a couple years ago, someone from another team unkowingly wrestled with it, and it spread to our mats, and then half the team. But anyway, A doctor can easly perscribe an anti bactirial for it, in like a 5 min. apointment. Anything else you need to know just contact me.
I've never had it, but I thought my cat did at one time, so I know a little bit about it.
It's very contagious, but not life threatening. More of a nuisance really. If you have a rash somewhere on your body that resembles a ring, then you prolly have it. It's not really a worm, don't worry about that. I think you need to treat it with some sort of meds. Try to avoid skin to skin contact with other people and wash your bedding, and try to clean your other furniture as best as possible.
I used to be a wrestler, so I've definatley had ringworm before. Almost all varieties are pretty harmless if you catch them before they spread. Its basically just athlete's foot on a different part of your body. You can buy Lamisil AT at any grocery store to take care of them. However you DEFINATELY need to see a dermatologist if the infection is in your scalp. If it infects your hair follicles, It can scar them and your hair may fall out and not regrow until the scarring goes away. If it is anywhere else though, dont sweat it, and apply lamisil twice a day for about two weeks and there should be no signs that it was ever there.
My brother had it a few weeks ago. I gave him Grapefruit Seed Extract that I got from GNC. It dried and went away faster than expected.
