Answers:
I was stung by red ants one summer when I lay on a grass bank..I was wearing shorts and fell asleep. When I woke up there was a big red sticky blotch behind my knee and it itched also. I just put a dry bandage dressing on it and it cleared up after a few days. If you have a allergy to insect bites..it would be a good idea to see your doctor.
I suggest you get a professional opinion, they sound like fire ants which aren't lethal but can be nasty.
I don't know where you live, how you got bitten or what the ants look like so that's the best I can do. Sorry.
But to be on the safe side it's always a good idea to get any bite or sting that you are unsure of treated.
Also this could be a pest species that people are not aware of in your area. Fire ants for instance are moving almost everywhere these days and can kill toddlers. If they don't know they have reached your area, they cannot take eradication measures.
(edit)
The 'Red Ant' is the fire ant which has 28 species and is known in each location as the red ant
'European Red Ant' is not that serious compared to others, but sores can become infected and scar, and anaphalactic shock is also a possibility with any type of venom. Not for you though, as it's immediate.
I've never been stung by fire ants but vinegar takes away the itching of many types of sting, don't scratch or break the skin as it could scar or worse become infected.
did you wash the bites with soap and water when you first got bit?try a pain/itch relieving cream or an oral antihistimine if that doesnt work go to the doctor dont scratch or break any blisters that appear and if you do get heads on them dont pop them!it'll cause scarring and infection
