If you are looking for a proven immune-boosting supplement, try Immune Alert. It is made from beta glucan, an extract from baker's yeast, that has been proven to boost the performance of the immune system. My family takes it and we've been very pleased with the results.

As for you question about whether your immune system will "go back to the way it was" after you discontinue a product: because the components of the immune system are constantly renewed in the body (blood cells, etc), yes you do loose the positive affects of an effective product if you stop using it. However, a product like Immune Alert has been shown to act quickly to boost the immune system -- so if you go off it you can start taking it again at the first signs of illness to help fight it off. Although it may not be as effective if you had been taking the product all along.
