Hard question, however, this is regaurding breast cancer, any help would be great.?

Question:
I while back I found a "bump" attached to I guess my rib cage, or wall maybe. I was a little concerned but thought that this was just a bone. After talking with my mom she has told me that there should be No bumps or lumps anywhere, although I have the one on my rib cage and one higher up about 2in. below my neck. Now I am going to schedule a doctor appointment, even though I'm pretty scared to even call and talk about my concern but I would like to know if any women, or men have had some experiance with this, is my mom right, should there be no bumps anywhere? Any advice. Thanks everyone.

Answers:
There shouldn't be any NEW bumps. If you've had that bump your entire life, then I wouldn't worry about it; however, any new bumps you find, you should see a doctor about, just to be on the safe side. Most lumps found in the breast are benign though.
They could be calcium deposits, but get it checked to be sure.
Some women have lumpy breasts.. I do, they are fibroid cysts. They are worsened by caffine intake. This is why montly exams are essential. There should not be any major concern unless there are changes, painful spots, puckering, discharge or discoloration. Still go to the doctor and have it checked out.
I found my lump right inbetween my breasts on my breast bone, about 4 inches below my neck. So your mom is probably right and the best thing you can do is go and see what it is. I'm sending you best wishes that it will be no problem and not cancer..hopefully the doctor will tell you there's nothing to be scared about.Good Luck!
I too found a lump on the crease on my breast closest to my chest bone. I panicked and scheduled an apt w/ my primary physician, she examined the area was positive it was just a cyst. To confirm her diagnose she sent me to have an ultrasound done. Yup just a cyst, I was relieved after both exams. Pls see a doctor it will help you sleep better at night. God Bless
Just because there is a bump doesn't automatically mean it's cancer or that is it anything serious. I think it is GREAT you are getting checked. Just to be sure. I was 19 when diagnosed with Breast cancer so you can never be too sure. As we age, have injuries ect there will be bumps and lups that form. Whatever happens know you are on the right track with getting checked with your dr.
