What are good wide-spectrum oral antibiotics for treating an infection in the cerebralspinal fluid ?
Question:
Answers:
A bacterial infection of the cerebrospinal fluid (meningitis or encephalitis) is a very serious condition, and is likely to be lethal if not treated properly.
It's unlikely you'd use oral antibiotics - they would need to be intravenous, at least initially. The choice of antibiotic would depend on what the suspected cause is. Oral amoxicillin would probably not be adequate.
when I had brain surgery and developed an infection they started to give me an antibotic related to penicillin. I noticed the name of it a reminded them I had an allergry can't remember name of it though, sorry, and they had to which to bactrim.
Pencillin is the best for cerbral infections.
Site is for Hodkins disease but tells how pencillin is best.
Good luck!!
This is a question best asked of your doctor. He should be able to give you an answer without delay and if you have this infection, why aren't you keeping up with your care through a professional? This is not a good situation.
