HELP for those who have used DIFFERIN?

Question:
It's been over a month now, and my face looks worse than ever. Before I started using it, I was using proactive and a pimple cream, my acne was mild and only really a lot on my right cheek.

At night, I use the Neutrogena salicylic acid cleanser after a shower, then put on the differin. In the morning, I use the cleanser again.

The first week I used differin only and my face got a lot more red, acne started popping up in places, and I got like 2 new white heads every day. So, I started using the proactive lotion (small bottle) in the morning after cleanser, but I stopped that recently because I didn't know if it was helping.

Now, it's been over a month and my face is popping up with acne that wasn't there prior to using differin. My question is, how long did it take you guys to get results? And how long should I continue to use it before acknowledging that it's not helping? I've heard that salicylic acid cleanser has adverse affects with differin, is that true?

Answers:
Okay so the thing behind how Differin works is that it brings out all of the hidden pimples that were forming beneath the surface of your skin (the ones you didn't know about yet.) Once all those are out it can begin working on the bacteria and "gunk" that has built up in your pores. Using Differin is a very slow process and it takes a year to see good results. Now that doesn't mean you just jump to the next treatment! In order for any treatment to work you have to commit to it for a good long while, because your skin cells have to regenerate and repair themsleves over a long period of time. I say wait it out, keep using the cleanser (it was a recommended action for me from my dermatologist), use any sort of face lotion that doesn't clog your pores to keep your skin hydrated, and possibly look into getting topical antibiotics from your dermatologist to keep down the big nasty ones that may pop up now. Also, make sure to extract the white heads and black heads to make sure that the differin can actually do its job. they sell little metal extractor tools that help squeeze them out. It's a lot of work i know so good luck!
I used it a while ago. If i remember correctly it took a little bit of time before i saw some results. Even then they were not enough for my liking so my dermatologist had me start to take some pill as well. It worked well. As for the cleanser effecting the differin you could ask your doctor or even the pharmacist should know. If you don't like the effects see if you can try something else. I went through many different things before i was happy.
