What can I use to clean a pair of custom-made orthotics that started smelling (and possibly causing a rash)?

Question:
They are roughly 7 years old, but feel great! The bottom part is made of a hard rubber, the middle layer is some type of foam, and the top part is a soft leather. The rash is a light-brown spotted rash that is only on the upper foot by the toes and on the ankles, but I can't find anything like it at dermatology websites. I can't afford $480 for another pair of custom made orthotics, and those ones they sell on TV don't work for me--they feel like I'm walking with a rock under each foot! Please help!

Answers:
Try some Febreze. It's pretty effective at killing odors.
The bacteria is in the shoe and can be trying to get rid of. Try sprinkling a mixture of baking soda and lavender buds grounded up.
You can soak your feet in Epsom salt, baking soda and eucalyptus leaves (broken up). You may have to do this about three times minimum per week. To fix it now.
For later and longer use I recommend:
This foot soak I buy online through www.dandesoap.com for $4.35 and it kills all kinds of foot fungus including athletes feet and she can make the powder that has tea tree in it to keep the bacteria gone. I soak my husbands feet once a week to keep athlete's feet gone and I get about 6 months more wear for his work boots with the powder she makes.
