Kidney/UTI Issues-PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!?
Question:
So, first they thought I had Interstitial Cystitis-I went through the 3 treaments which consist of having a catheter inside you w/ some sort of medicine that you have to hold in for 10-15 min. I had these done and STILL ended up getting a really bad kidney infection where I was in the hospital. So, we had some IVP's done and now he is saying he cannot see anything abnormally wrong other than the right kidney is draining slower that the left. He is now telling me it is in my head! AFTER ALL THE results of the infections.I have 2 years of proof, but it's in my head. Well, again I have another infection right now and was sent back to the ER yesterday. WHAT CAN I DO? PLEASE HELP
Answers:
They need to do a RENAL SCAN! It involves putting in an iv and injecting radioactive dye into your system. They then watch it and see what happens. It is done in Nuclear Medicine. I had this same problem. I had 2 utis in a matter of 3 weeks and then started peeing blood. I saw the doctor and they did a renal scan only to see the same thing. My left kidney was draining slower then the right and the left was showing reflux. Well I ended up having a blockage in my ureter. So, they had to literally take the ureter out and connect the kidney and bladder together with a piece of intestine. So, see a urologist and have them do a renal scan.
I have been having kidney infections and UTI's for all of my life, for a different reason than yours but I can only tell you what I do. Stop drinking sodas, tea, coffee and alcohol. Drink 8 glasses of water a day and 1 glass of cranberry juice ( or take one cranberry pill a day). If your kidney is not working like it should you need to help it along. If you have to drink the above mentioned, drink an extra glass of water per drink. Hope you get to felling better.
OK, this is what you need to do. drink 1-gallon of water a day
one aft her another. back to back, and drink cranberry juice .
trust me do what aim telling you , and you will feel better and will never have to worry about getting another effect ion again. and also go to you re local pharmacy and get cranberry pill over counter drug . that weird you re doctor sup post to prescribe you some pills, i forgot the name of them put they look like a cancel and have a black tip
Your doctor is a jerk! Find a new one. I have systemic lupus and also have the same kidney problems as you. many times when a doctor doesn't know what's going on, he says "it's in your head". ARGH!
Drink plenty of fluids, especially water. Drinking plenty of liquids can help remove bacteria from your body when you urinate. In particular, cranberry juice may have infection-fighting properties. However, don't drink cranberry juice if you're taking the blood-thinning medication warfarin (Coumadin). Possible interactions between warfarin and cranberry juice can lead to bleeding.
Urinate frequently. Avoid retaining your urine for a long time when you feel the urge to void.
Empty your bladder after intercourse. Urinating as soon as possible after intercourse helps to clear bacteria from the urethra, reducing your risk of infection. Also, drink a full glass of water to help flush bacteria from your system.
Shower rather than bathe. If you're susceptible to infections, taking a shower instead of a tub bath can help prevent excess moisture that can contribute to infection.
Wipe carefully. Wiping from front to back after urinating and after a bowel movement helps to prevent bacteria in your anal region from spreading to your urethra.
Wash gently. Wash the skin around your vagina and anus carefully every day. But don't use harsh soaps or wash vigorously. The delicate skin around these areas can become irritated.
Avoid using feminine products in your genital area. Using feminine products, such as deodorant sprays or douches, in your genital area can irritate your urethra.
Take cranberry capsules.
Good luck and take care
