Red blotchy palms?
Question:
Its not itchy or hot but sometimes it looks redder than other times.
Any ideas what it can be ?
Answers:
The hands maybe involved as part of many widespread rashes and dermatology is a visual art. I will cover the lesions closest to your description keeping in mind some of the characteristics that go along, that will help you identify which one of these lesions maybe the one.
1. Erythema multiforme : often affects the hands , and typical target lesions on the palms suggest that the likely trigger is a Herpes viral infection . That may explain the blisters a few weeks back. Target lesions are an arrangement of concentric rings ( like an iris or bull's eye) . Treatment is symptomatic in most cases.
2. Erythema nodosum : tender purple-colored nodules , most commonly occuring on the shins , but have been reported to appear on the palms and soles . EN can be due to several etiologies ( e.g medications like sulfa drugs or streptococcal infections-certain type of bacteria). Treatment is symptomatic , with antiinflammatory medication with or without a steroid.
3. Urticarial rash ( or Angio edema): Itching is common and in the case of angioedema , the whole palm would be swollen , tender , with difficulty moving the fingers. Urticaria appears like a flared wheel and can be caused by a variety of foreign antigens. Treatment is with antihistamines and a visit to the ER maybe necessary if the swelling affects the lips , face and produce difficulty in breathing due to an associated upper airway swelling.
4. Granuloma Annulare : These are more likely papular or nodular that form a circle or semicircle . maybe skin colored but often dusky. usually without any symptoms. Treatment is symptomatic
5. Fungal infections can sometimes appear as a pink blotchy rash on the palms , usually one palm , it's itchy, with tiny scales and develops gradually over weeks. A scraping is warranted from the scaly lesions to be checked for fungus and an antifungal treatment maybe prescribed .
These lesions can also be a begining of a more wide spread rash which could be due to a variety of viral infections ( e.g Coxackie virus and this may present with blisters on both the hands and feet ) or drug allergies ( and these are usually fixed lesions , i.e always recur in the same site ) or a vasculitis ( inflammation of the blood vessels ) just to count a few on the list.
Hope this helps
Liver problem
no but you should totaly go and se a doctor
just to be on the safe side
also dont try and cratch it because it may get worse
i got that last year and it turned out i was allergic to something
I would not think its anything to worry about, most serious problems have other symptoms than just redness. If you are worried then get it checked out by a doctor.
Well when I had that I was pregnant,
I am not suggesting you are,
I would check it out with your Doctor first and don’t worry about it.
