Should I get a tag?
Question:

You should wear a bracelet, pin, or other identification stating you are allergic to penicillin. Even if your allergy is very mild, such as a rash and itching, this allergy may suddenly and without warning become anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis involves a blood pressure drop and impaired breathing and may be fatal.
If, God forbid, you are ever found unconscious and the medical team treating you is not aware of your allergies, they may inadvertently harm you while trying to treat you. Please get a bracelet or some other form of Medic Alert ID.
You must also be proactive every time you visit the physician or undergo any medical treatment. Your penicillin allergy should be part of your medical record; however, please remind doctors, nurses, technicians, etc. that you are allergic to penicillin.
You can get a tag if you want but I think you are overreacting. In a school setting no one is going to give you antibioitcs without your knowledge for crying out loud.
Yes, if you are allergic most definitely get a tag! You never know what may happen to you. Accidents happen all the time. The bus you ride to school could be involved in a serious accident on the way to and from school. Or you could become involved in an accident in the family car.
The purpose of the tag is to alert medical personnel to your allergy if you are unconscious and unable to tell them yourself.
