Answers:
Well, it will help some if you understand that the scar is the natural healing process of the body. Anytime you injure the skin there is the possibility you will form a visible scar, the worse the wound, the greater chance you are going to have one left behind. A scar is the body's way of protecting itself from future injury in that area. Even if you have plastic surgery, there will be a scar left behind. Plastic surgeons can sometimes camoflauge a scar, by resecting it to lay in a natural crease of the body, or behind the hairline, but they can't completely avoid a scar of some kind. If you heal forming keloids, then plastic surgery can sometimes improve the way it looks, but you are still going to be left with a scar. On the other hand, sometimes plastic surgeons and dermatolgists can use a laser to smooth some scars, with fair results. The only way to know for certain is to see one and get a professional opinion about what is possible. A reputable doctor will not make promises to magically remove a scar, but he/she will tell you what may be possible. Just be prepared to be told there is not much that can be done, and they don't perform miracles. Mederma is the best of the scar reduction creams on the market, simply put. It isn't an eraser, though, and it can't magically remove a scar. I'm sorry but it just doesn't work that way. The best it can do is to lighten the color and smooth the skin so it is less noticeable. It also works best on light colored skin and fresh scars. Mederma also takes several months of daily applications to see results. If you did not use it for 4-6 months daily, that may be partially why you are disappointed with it, and it might be best to retry it again. Scar resection done by a reputable surgeon will not be cheap, and you may still be disappointed with the results if you are looking to create skin like you had before the injury left the scar. That is just not possible, I'm afraid. I wish I could tell you of a miracle that would help, but honestly there are none. There are plenty of products that may promise it, but none that can deliver good on the promise. So before you pour a great deal of money into products that won't help, perhaps you should visit either a dermatolgist or a plastic surgeon and get the most professional opinion and evaluation. One of these two doctors will be best able to help if anyone can. A good one will be honest, and should be able to show you some examples of other patients they have done similar repairs for. A good one will also not make promises for something they can't guarentee, and they can't guarentee a perfect result. Good luck, and I hope you can find some aid.
there is absolutely no way to get rid of a scar. Plain and simple. LIVE WITH IT!
