Does benign mean a tumour but safe??
Question:
Does this mean it's a tumour or just a lump that will settle down.
I have had them for 10 months now and i am also getting soreness under my armpits but i can't fel any lumps, i have cold sweats and i get nauseous. Should i just ignore this and think it will settle down or should i keep on it.
I also found out i'm anemic and i keep getting really bad UTI's which the dr's are investigating too do you think they could be conected?
has anyone had simliar experiences or no anyone that has.
Thankyou in advance.

People need some clarification here . . benign means that the tumor has not yet turned cancerous. It does not mean that it won't. Benign does not mean you are safe. Benign means you have a chance to stop cancer from developing by getting treatment before it happens.
A benign tumor basically means that it cannot spread to another area of the body . . yet. The confusion comes from the fact that some benign tumors are very slow growing which means they can be removed and never develop into cancer. Left untreated it is possible that a benign tumor can eventually turn into a malignancy.
You need to be persistent about getting a definitive diagnosis about what is happening with your body. No one here can tell what the problem is or rule anything out. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes awhile before a malignancy will show up on any tests. A patient may be experiencing a wide range of seemingly unrelated symptoms and a doctor cannot pinpoint a 'cause'. Cancer, in general, is progressive which means it will eventually manifest itself.
You might want to ask your doctor if you could have a CT. That way you will establish a baseline CT to be used at a later date. (They will be able to compare scans to see if there are any changes). Remain persistent until you have an answer.
Good luck.
Benign means non-cancerous.
Malignant means cancerous.
You're probably just stressing. Talk to your dr.
Look up "Goiter". Just because it's a lump, does not mean it's a tumor. And benign does mean harmless. But the lump does not go away. It's the word "malignant" that you have to worry about with cancer. I hope you stay well, and good for you for getting it checked out!
Benign means harmless. In your case I would say it probably means they didn't see anything on the ultrasound that was cause for concern.
Benign is also a term used to describe non-cancerous tumors, but usually this is determined after doing a biopsy on the tumor. But if they said benign factors, it probably just means nothing of concern rather than a non-cancerous tumor.
benign means not cancerous. uti's could be connected to the enlarged lymph nodes just because lymph nodes are the hub of your immune system, when you have an infection they swell up and produce antibodies to fight off the infection but usually the lymph nodes are more localized to your symptoms, so enlarged neck lymph nodes are probably not connected to your uti's but ure uti's could be from a weakened immune system and ure enlarged lymph nodes could be an indication of that especially since they have been enlarged for such a long time. i say keep seeing your doctor and get to the bottom of this
I am sorry to hear about your current situation. Let me try and shed some light on all of this for you.
1. Benign: This means that there is a growth or cluster of cells that are not malignant. This does not necessarily mean that you have cancer or that the lump has characteristcs that could transform into a cancer. Glands, cysts, and other things in the body can be benign, all this means is that it is not cancerous or dangerous.
2. There are some benign conditions, typically in the brain that can become life threatening. This happens when the area in question begins to impinge on the spinal cord or other organs that are vital to functioning. Considering that yours are in the neck and arm pit, I would say you do not have to worry about them being life threatening.
3. Lumps in your armpits, neck region, cold sweats, nausea, and bad UTI's.do you also have frequent urination? I would say that you need to go seek an opinion from your physician and have him order a CT scan and some blood work.
4. To me it sounds as if you have the classic symptons of hodgkin's lymphoma. Here is a link to the national cancer institutes information page: http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/types...
5. I would suggest going back to your primary care physician and asking him that you would like further testing done. Hopefully this is just swalloen glands due to an infection or stress, but none the less, with the symptons you are speaking of, I would have it checked out.
I was hospitalize for the same. Nothing was ever found as the cause for this, although I was even check for HIV, bone marrow, etc. The best way to get a fact as to cause is with biopsy. Have same symptoms as you By the way, do you have a cat? The can cause this lymph condition.
