Anyone here ever get skin cancer from tanning bed use?

I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma last June. I have medium toned skin, no major sunburns in my lifetime, and no history of melanoma in my family. I am 24 and have never been a big indoor or outdoor tanner (hey, I live in Northern Canada - not a lot of tanning days up here!). When I was 18 and graduating from highschool I did go tanning 2-3 times a week for about 6 weeks...other than that I've spent very little time in a tanning bed.
After being diagnosed, the doctor said that sometimes melanoma is just something that happens, regardless of your skin type, tanning, or family history - these things just increase your chances. If you are concerned about a mole, or about your tanning I would urge you strongly to go to a doctor. If I had left my suspicious mole on my foot for another month or two, my doctor says my chances of being around in 5 years would have been 50%. Please be careful and aware.
No but it is entirely possible. Anywhere between 20 minutes and 30 minutes in a tanning bed is equivalent to spending a full 8 hours outside in the sun.
Hope this helps. :-)
Maybe, though it would be hard to prove because she tanned outside as well.
NO. but i did know my friends friend in CALIFORNIA. SHE went to the tanning bed over+ over because she wanted a good tan quick 4 a special occassion. SHE baked on the inside her vains.SHE died 5 days later.
The lady that owned our local sunbed shop died of skin cancer a couple of years ago.
i have a friend who got skin cancer from tanning. tanning every day and a lot of tanning from a bed can cause cancer so just to be safe dont go all the time
A tanning bed can cause the same skin cancer that the sun does. and maybe quicker because there are so many people who think that it's totally safe.
