The cause (etiology) of eczema is not known: that's why there is no cure. It is known that allergens (some foods, detergents, chemicals, etc) may trigger a flare-up. For the best natural remedy for eczema go to http://www.champori.com
I've asked my doctor because I had one going from my ear down my throat(thankfully not into my face!). She told me that the medical science wasn't really sure. Now, after I got rid of it, do I believe that it is a malfunction of sorts along with environmental influences. I am extremely sensitive to some ingredients used in shampoo and conditiones and do believe now that the sensitivity along with some sort of malfunction within my body has triggered an eczema. I've had it for almost 15 years, going through phases where it flared up seriously and got treated with all sorts of potions and creams, mainly cortisone. None of it cured the thing.
I have started to take glyconutrients 2 months ago and within 10 days did the eczema start to heal. By now can you only see a slight redness where it used to be.

Allergies and food sensitivities are common causes. Some folks are photosensitive and get it more when they've been in the sun. Has your doc suggested any ointments? I have several relatives with bad eczema and they use triamcinolone. It's a prescription, it works for each and every one of them.
Causes of eczema are numerous, but its actually a problem that originates with the immune system.
