Try using anti-dandruff shampoo. If it still continues and looks very severe, consult a dermatologist..
head and shoulders, baby or selsen blue
Hello, I have had a dandruff problem my whole life. I have tried all the dandruff shampoos ( head and shoulders, denorex, selsun blue, etc ) and the only one that I have found to work is made by garnier fructise. It is a 2 in 1 shampoo plus conditioner. You can get it anywhere that sells shampoo for around $3. My hair stylist recommended it to me.
Now if you have dandruff really bad with like patches of really red itchy spots it may be a type of dermatitis and you may want to get it checked out by a dermatologist. They will be able to give you prescription strength shampoo.
Dandruff is one of the major disorders of the scalp.Poor hygiene, improper diet ,sluggish condition of the scalp caused by poor blood circulation are the main causes of dandruff. A herbal rinse is a safe method of removing dandruff. Apply lemon juice with the rind on the scalp .After 5 minutes wash off with shampoo and water. Treatment and prevention of DANDRUFF
- Dandruff can disappear suddenly without treatment or may take multiple weeks of treatment to improve.
- Prevention of dandruff may be achieved by shampooing regularly with a mild, non-medicated shampoo. The scalp should be massaged gently to loosen flakes and the hair and scalp rinsed thoroughly
- Anti-dandruff shampoos containing coal tar, pyrithione zinc, salicylic acid or selenium sulfide are available without a prescription. (Specific products may be recommended by a physician or pharmacist.)
- Stronger anti-dandruff shampoos and lotions are also available by prescription.
- If the flaking skin is isolated in one area or in multiple areas, then the condition may be a skin problem other than dandruff and a physician should be notified.
