Hey! i had friends who used that stuff and they told me it worked very quickly. HOWEVER, the result may vary depend on people so this proactive may or may not work on you.
You shouldn't worry about how to put these on. I am sure they would come with instructions that you could follow.

Hey I tried proactive for the full two months. Within the first week I got this huge pimple right in the crease of my nose (the lady at the mall told me that would prob happen before I saw results). After that happened I never got another pimple. My focus became getting rid of blemishes from past pimples. After the 60 days I got my money back and told them I was not satisfied. I was at Walmart and saw a 3 part system that was identical to proactive called Acne Free...it was only$19.99. It worked the same as proctive at a much cheaper price. Using this product I still never got a pimple and since I was using the proactive and acne free for about 3.5 months i started seeing my blemishes go away. My family even noticed. Now I have completly changed my facial skin care. In the morning I splash cold water on my face (I read that cold water closes you pores), then I rub my face with alcohol to kill the bacteria that cause pimples and also get the dirt off my skin, then I go over my face with witch hazel that I have found to be great for blemishes. Then I follow up with benzoly peroxide lotion (the main ingrediant in proactive and acne free. Neutrogena also makes this type of lotion). The proactive lotion can be purchased by itself also. The last pimple I can remember getting is the huge one I got after that 1st couple of week of using proactive. My skin is looking way better. When using alcohol you have to make sure you follow up with a good moisturizor because it will dry your skin out. I use the acne free lotion.it goes quite a long way. I sti;; had quite a bit left over after I ran out of the astringent and face wash. Hope this helps. I promise you that acne free works just like proactive at a waaayyyyy cheaper price!
